Dr. Michael S. Carifio received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude) in 1979, and pursued Masters and Doctoral degrees at Auburn University, receiving his Ph.D. in 1986. Dr. Carifio is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Florida, and has been a professional clinical consultant to the Broward Children's Center for almost 20 years. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Nova Southeastern University and an expert witness for the Miami-Dade County Court System.

For more than 37 years, Broward Children’s Center has been providing medical, educational, and advocacy services to infants, children, and young adults with special needs.
