MIAMI BEACH, FL (02.04.10) – South Beach’s famous Clevelander Hotel was flooded with former and present NFL players on February 2nd as athletes, celebrities, and philanthropists attended the Crockett Foundation’s Inaugural Diamond Ball Cocktail Reception.
The event is the brainchild of Henri and Zack Crockett, former NFL players who grew up in Pompano Beach and founded the Crockett Foundation to give back to their community. Funds raised will benefit Broward Children’s Center and the Diabetes Research Institute.
Guests to the event walked a green carpet before heading upstairs to the Clevelander’s 1020 Music Boxx club for live and silent auctions and entertainment by DJs and performance artists.
"The Crockett Foundation is committed to serving the communities in which we live and raising awareness on issues that affect our communities directly," said Henri Crockett, Founder of the Crockett Foundation.
Broward Children’s Center specializes in helping infants, children, and young adults with special health care needs. The Center was founded in 1971 in Pompano Beach, and offers a wide range of health, wellness, education, recreation and therapeutic services, for children with disabilities.
“The Crockett Foundation’s is helping local children overcome challenges that often limit their potential and we couldn’t be more thankful,” said Broward Children’s Center CEO Marge Evans.
The Crockett Foundation’s mission focuses on raising community awareness about health & wellness issues that affect South Florida, particularly through its Annual Health & Community Awareness Festival. The Foundation continues to provide educational scholarships for deserving students and create safe havens within the community where students can come and receive remedial education, tutorial assistance and mentoring programs.
For more than 39 years, Broward Children’s Center has been providing medical, educational, and advocacy services to infants, children, and young adults with special needs.
