POMPANO BEACH FL (5.16.05) – The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs (NAC) announced today that Broward Children’s Center’s South Preschool has been awarded NAC Accreditation.

As a NAC accredited facility, the Center’s preschool has been recognized as an early care and education program that exemplifies excellence in the care of young children.

Center Operation Manager, Jacqui Mogavero said that the certification was further evidence of the fact that the Fort Lauderdale-based preschool program far exceeded minimum standards necessary for licensing.

“The NAC has recognized that children enrolled in our preschool can flourish in an environment that is conducive to their individual growth and development,” she said. “We’re excited to achieve this certification and look forward to continuing our leadership in the delivery of best practices in preschool care.”

The National Accreditation Commission for Early Care and Education Programs is managed by the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP). The accreditation process includes a self-study, observation by an early childhood professional, and evaluation by national commissioners.

Broward Children’s Center’s preschool initiative is also set to see the opening of the Center’s third preschool. The new Preschool at St. Martin’s intergenerational program is a collaboration with St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and will provide children aged 3-5 and older adults with a safe, stimulating and caring environment five days a week. The Pompano Beach-based program will seek to encourage mentoring, increase community participation, and provide activities that are developmentally appropriate for children, and cognitively suitable for adults.

For more than 30 years Broward Children’s Center has been providing medical, educational, therapeutic and advocacy services to infants, children and young adults with special needs.
