POMPANO BEACH FL (8/31/04) – Organizations and individuals around the world will mark the third anniversary of the September 11 tragedy with memorial services and moments of reflection - World Gym seeks to honor the heroes who fell that day with a charity event to raise funds for the heroes who call Broward Children’s Center home.

“We wanted to pay tribute to those who lost their lives and the families that survive them in a positive way,” said World Gym Pompano Beach General Manager, Steve Mattingley. “We think it fitting that we remember this day by improving the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in our community.”

Between 9am-3pm on Saturday September 11th, World Gym will host a yard sale at its 401 S. Federal Hwy facility in Pompano featuring clothing, household items, gifts and furnishings to raise funds for Broward Children’s Center. Bargain hunters will also enjoy a barbeque and children will be entertained with a bounce house and other organized fun and games.

Proceeds will help deliver critical health and quality of life services to the more than 600 children and families Broward Children’s Center supports. Begun in 1971, the Center is a nonprofit organization that provides medical, therapeutic and educational services to infants and children with complex medical and developmental challenges.

“Broward Children’s Center can think of no better way to pay our respects to those lost on 9/11 than by investing in the future of local children coping with developmental and cognitive challenges,” said Broward Children’s Center CEO, Marjorie Evans. “With the support of corporate citizens, such as Publix, StorageMart, Starbucks, Surf World, Bru’s Room, Wild Nails, Kimane, Planet Beach, Zumba and Pogo’s Amusements, this event will make a real difference in the lives of these extraordinary individuals.”

For more information regarding the event or to donate goods to the yard sale please contact Steve Mattingley at 954.786.6000, or Thor Barraclough at 954.410.4410.

For more than 30 years, Broward Children’s Center has been providing medical, educational, therapeutic and advocacy services to infants, children and young adults with special needs.

Jim Woolard's World Gym’s, mission is to assist individuals to create a fitness lifestyle that is fun, simple, easy, and compatible with the busiest of schedules.
