Pompano Beach, Fl – A visit by former Miami Dolphins and Santa himself has brought some holiday cheer to medically fragile children at Broward Children’s Center.
Members of the undefeated Dolphins team of 1972 and other NFL Alumni visited the Center’s infants, children and young adults with special needs to help Santa hand out gifts, sign autographs, and share special holiday treats.
The event was organized by the NFL Alumni’s South Florida Chapter, who also provided the Center with a spectacular tree dressed with NFL team decorations. The visitors also shared holiday treats with residents who require around the clock medical attention at the Center’s sub-acute facility.
CompCare Board member, Bill McGough said the Alumni’s visit was a great experience for many of the team’s biggest fans. “Getting to meet these football greats and listen to their positive message was so exciting for all these children and really made for a great holiday celebration.”
The event was held at Broward Children’s Center’s CompCare facility, a family friendly home for youth whose developmental and physical challenges require expert pediatric medical care. Many of the children served at the Center are among the most at-risk and medically fragile children in the nation and require sophisticated technology to help them breath, eat, and move.
The NFL Alumni is a charitable organization composed primarily of former professional football players whose volunteer efforts are guided by the motto, "Caring for Kids."
